A record field for the 29th Brew Run with 1,415 sun
scorched finishers. Reigning Pub Queen Christin
Doneski rallied against reason (stay at home, corral the
kids, cajole the hubby and pack for the next morning's
vacation trip to Maine) and instead made the 3-hour
commute to Brewster from Hopkinton, NH.
Christin kept the golden Pub chalice from the lips of localite
and Chatham Harbor 10K winner Karen Freidman by
9-seconds. Yah! On top of a large seascape painting,
Christin won (ironically) a $100 Gulf gas card in the raffle
while also creating a gulf between the 1-2 spots in the
Series as silver medalist Meaghan Shaw was out
with an injury.
Senior stalwart Sue Kenney was also on hand but
sitting out with injury, and "top of the leaderboard" Eileen
Troy was at her son's fiancee's bridal shower. Thus, the
biggest movement in the standings was in the
Senior division as both Claire McManus
and Sue Maslowski moved past Troy. County Clare
Claire was shilling race apps for Sean Doherty's "Women
Running Wild" 5K in Osterville after the race, and as a
semi-regular at Doyle's, is right at home roosting in the top
spot of the Pub Series.
Next Pub Series run is on September 16, at the Shipyard
Brewery in lovely Portland, Me., Portland Trail to Ale
10K.
