NER Pub Series IX - Doyle's Emerald Necklace 5M

Some heavy-duty competition during the decade dance at Doyle's. To break the top 36 you had to go sub-6. Somewhat of a mystery as to who's in/who's out at this juncture although defending champion Jason Cakouros was absent (sick).

It's doubtful former North Coast Athletic Conference and 1-2 Doyle's runners Ben Hildebrand (Kenyon-Ohio) and Brendan Callahan (College of Wooster-Ohio) are on the circuit, or NER loyalist Mike Slinsky (3rd) who's a 3.5 hour drive away in NY.

The weight of the civilized world now rests, if only momentarily, on the pride of the Hopkinton RC, Mr. Keiron Tumbleton, top Master and 4th overall.
Former Somerville, current Whirlaway runner Shad Miller (5th) is a possibility and everybody's dark horse during the draining of draughts post-race seemed to be former Syracuse Charger and current Whirlaway harrier Mike Platt (6th).

On it goes, there were over 1500 finishers at Doyle's, the usual post-race bash featuring elevated dancing girls in and out of Doyle's and NER saw fit to take a nap and finish the formatting below at 2:30 am, thus insuring the early posting of these standings (an aberration to be sure).

Road Rage: A last mention of the Rules of Engagement - anyone looking for a jacket for running all six races, to be scored throughout the Series, the party, the swag, etc. Needs to be a subscriber to NER no later than the second race in the Series (Irish Village 5M, Yarmouth, MA, May 13). Only one (1) subscription is required per household. One missed race is admissible, miss two, you're through (tough love). Good luck to everyone down the road...

Postscript: Race leader Chris Spinney of Whirlaway looked awful good for the race's first .75 mile.
