Braving broken clam shells and a fierce headwind is all it took to jump ahead in the standings for all those who revisited the site of 2005's Nor'easter at the Irish Village 5M in Yarmouth.

Coming off a 2:27 at Boston - and car trouble on the 3.5 hr. ride from Wappinger Falls, NY, Mike Slinskey arrived at midnight, caught some z's and then placed 2nd to Kevin Gray to cement a 3-point cushion over Hopkinton (1.5 hr. ride) ace Keiron Tumbleton as we approach the Runner's Alley/Red Hook Brewery 5K in Portsmouth, NH (4.5 hours from Wappinger Falls).

Wrestling partners Paul Hammond and Shad Miller hold down the 3-4 slots while HFC's Bobby Bligh and Alf Tupper's Jimmy Fallon made big jumps to go 5-6.

From a scoring perspective, this will be a lot easier after the third race when we can start winnowing the chaff from the wheat. Congrats to all those who braved the elements and the post-race marathon.
