The 2nd annual New Charles River Run 7M & 5Km will take place on June 30, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. Both races run concurrently over parts of the same course along the scenic Charles River. The New Charles River Run is the reincarnation of the former historic Charles River Run that took place from the early 1970's until 1995. This event is hosted and promoted by the Somerville Striders Athletic Club and B.A. Event Promotions of Somerville, Massachusetts.

The New Charles River Run begins and ends at Daley Field on Nonantum Road in Brighton, MA and it traverses along the Charles River through Watertown, Cambridge, Boston and Brighton. The Race benefits the American Legion Marsh Post as well as the May Institute and the Somerville Track PAC.

There has been added in 2002, $1,000.00 in cash prizes which will be awarded to the top male & female runners and wheelchair athletes.
