Mr. Ruane Crummet, a gentleman of 70 and scorer in the Pub Series 70-79 division at Doyle's and the Corrib, won the first Reebok shoe contest with an estimated guess of 29:40 and an actual time of 29:42. "A lucky guess," noted Crummet, a former training mate of CSU Hall of Famer Duke Hutchinson.

Ruane's guess broke a tie between Brian Byrne,who guessed 19:39 and ran 19:43, and Dave Pember, who guessed 21:40 and ran 21:44. The closest female was Sue McNatt who had guessed 29:55 and ran 21:07.

For his postulizing expertise, Ruane won a Reebok hat, shirt and new pair of Reebok running shoes.
