It was scorching hot at both the Jackson Covered
Bridge 10K in Jackson, NH on June 4 and the Pottle Hill 10K
in Mechanic Falls, ME on June 25, with perhaps a dollop
more humidity at Pottle Hill in McFalls.Congratulations to the Elite 9 who've made it
halfway and are GUARANTEED a fabulous raffle
prize (or two) if they can make it past the final two events -
the Goshen Gallop in Goshen, VT on July 24 and
the Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls, MA on
August 13.
Hobbled with an achilles injury, yours truly missed out on
the communal struggle at Pottle, but along with
brother-in-law Jim (Schoon the Loon) Schoonover
invested heavily into the local economy at Katies Diner and
also rescued a teenage girl in dire straights who was
convulsed with cramps and was hand delivered to the EMTs
at the finish.
Severely dehydrated, the girl collapsed in front of bronze
medalist (& member of the Elite 8) Barbara
Robinson at about the 2.5 mile mark of Pottle Hill Road.
