NER Pub Series Women's Standings After 5 of 6 Races

Something akin to an NCAA championship meet broke out at Finbar's, probably owing to the fact that runner-up Emily Logan hails from neighboring E. Walpole. The 22 year-old is the Penn 3K & 5K school record holder and was most recently an indoor All American. Next up was Lisa Cappello, 22, who captained the Providence College women's XC team that was 3rd in the nation in 2003. Her sister, Heather, 24 (also a PC alum, as was winner Sarah Dupre-Healey) was next followed by Dublin native Caroline Dobbyn, 24, currently atop the USATF-NE Series standings.

Trish Hillery and Joann Mathews were next in 5-6 and remain 1-2 in the Pub Series, seperated by 6 points. Mathews, who was 50 seconds in arrears of Hillery way back at February's chilly Paddy Kelley 5M has, in the last three races, shortened the gap to 21 seconds (Doyle's), 10 seconds (Corrib), and 5 seconds at Finbar's. Just an interesting little tidbit, as is the fact that the host bar for Paddy Kelley's is now closed. Say good-bye to "Brrrrr!"

Top masters Sue Kenney and Joan Lally hold down the 3-4 postions with a resurgent Sue "Clear the Track" McNatt in 5th.

Everything else remains pretty much status quo with the exception of 6th placer Cara Pollock missing her second race and CSUer Cathy Cagle taking over the vacated position with a great run. Rising young star Michelle Carletti had a good one and moves into a tie for 7th with Jeannie Vieira.
