NER Pub Series Men's Standings After 5 of 6 Races

Congratulations to Chris & Megan Teague on the birth of their son, Liam on July 7. Hopefully, his first two words will be Da Da, because after Finbar's Eric Beauchesne's first two words were, "It's Over!" and ya gotta think diaper duty took the champ down hard (although he takes the high road, offering no excuses and refusing to cry into his brew).

Yes, it will be The Keg adorned in the yellow leader's jersey on Newton's Champs d'Elysse on Oct. 17. In a devastating turnaround from the Corrib, Teague barfed away 11 big points...and more...finishing just ahead of an injured Keiron Tumbleton in 20th place to The Keg's 4th place showing. Hence, what was an 11-point cushion is now a 5-point deficet.

Father of the Year Teague took solace with young Saucony teammate Brian Mahoneyin Finbar's post-race. Mahoney lost 6 points to hard charging Michael McGrane and now grasps the 3rd rung by a piddling 3 points heading into Paddy's.

"It's a damn shame about Teague," muttered Irish Tom Hurley, his hopes of highlighting the first pair of internationalists (Ireland's Trish Hillery on the women's side) to capture the Pub Series now dashed.

Iron Joe Drugan couldn't take having the snot kicked out of him yet again by Dave Pember in the Vet's division and missed his second race. No doubt he'll be wrapped around the light pole at the Paddy's mile mark, clutching a brown bag and muttering, "I coulda been a contendah."

Tom Doody and Paul Hammond retain their lock on the masters division, Jean-Guy Gaetano Barra looks good in the Senior division, and 70+ maestro Dr. Bob Hillman can sip a Guinness inside Paddy's and then emerge with Pember to mount the winner's podium.
