A gusting wind on a 22 degree day made Paddy Kelly's a chilling enterprise. Mimi Fallon smoked the field but she'll be in St. Louis for the Women's Olympic Marathon Trials on Doyle's weekend, thus hard pressed to salvage the Five to Stay Alive requirement this year.

Former PC Flyer Trish Hillery ran her first Pub Series race (perhaps unsuspectingly) which brings us to Pub Stalwarts Kara Hass, Joann Mathews, Miae Jacobs, Eileen Cakouros--all seperated by 3 points. Let the Games begin.

Two-time champ Jacobs could be in position for bigger mullah ($$) in the Open category, putting 2003 contenders Sue Kenney and the Shamrock AC's Joan Lally in the driver's seat. Deirdre Bird can fly but is the speedy Ocean Stater in the Senior hunt? Newly turned the Big 5-0, HFC's Jeannie Vieira is one up on 2003 All-Hurley award winner Sue Maslowski of Greater Lowell (headed for the home course advantage next race).

2003 Vets champ Sheila Basque is currently 3rd, but not behind Pub Series regulars (at least that we know of). Peripatic 82 year-old Louise Rossetti holds down the 70+ spot and runs enough races to score by accident in the Series. We'll have to tallk to her about this fabulous opportunity.

A Final Reminder: Folks need to be subscribers to the mag by Doyles to be eligible for scoring and all the Series-end swag (i.e. the jackets, the $$, the party, the glasses, etc.). Anyone and everyone is encouraged to participate in the Pub Series races, but to preserve our sanity and keep our merchandise sponsor solvent we're following the tact of every other series around when it comes to awards.
