Jetting in from sunny St. Louis (home of the 1904 Games) to catch the drizzly post-race fest at Doyle's. Blake Russell ran a 5:05 2nd mile in the Women's Olympic trials and was too zapped to double in the Pub Series. Too bad, but a spirited event nonetheless with N. Dartmouth's Joann Mathews staying within striking distance of Trish "Start the Taps" Hillery.

Defending champ Kara Hass has traded in her snow shoes and made up some lost ground, jumping from 12th to 6th overall. Jeanne Vieira broke the Senior tie with Sue Maslowski, a no-show, and with the weather non-conducive to golf, we fear injury or some equally debilitating obligation regarding Ms. Mas.

Happy to report that the majority of deletions from the standings weren't non-subscribers (the great unwashed) but those having fallen afoul of the Five to Stay Alive rule designed to separate the wheat from the chaff. Note: For newcomers, you've got to run all six races to receive a jacket, just as in the previous six years of the Pub Series.

Wring out your wet clothes and bring sunblock to the Corrib the first week of June. I'm predicting mild temperatures with a soothing breeze (We can all dream...).
