NER 2005 Pub Series Women's Standings After 2 of 6 Races

2005 NER Pub Series Women's Standings after Doyle's Emerald Necklace 5-Miler, the 2nd of 6 Series Races

Congrats to the Granite State's James Doneski who, despite having earned 23 precious Pub points in Portland, took a Hit for the team, caring for a four- and two-year-old so wife Christin could burn rubber from Hopkinton, NH to Doyle's in time to decision Pub Leader Mimi Fallon and thus throw the Pub Series women's title into a tie.

Caveat: Repeating the Curse of Hurley: "No woman who's ever won the first race of the Series has actually won the Series." Ah, the suspense heading into the Irish Village 5-Miler in Yarmouth, MA on May 7. Ironically, Irish Tom will miss this tug of war as he'll be on his annual Bermuda cruise; nonetheless, NER will be working a ship to shore line to keep the pundit updated.

Brian Kenney was sporting a very stylish Brian Boru hat from the previous Pub race and wife Sue has once again mounted the totem among Masters, despite lingering concerns from a nasty bout with plantar fasciitus (sp?).

Unlike the men's ledger there's only one current tie in the women's standings, that being Patricia Leonard and longtime CSUer Catherine Farrell in the Vet's division.

The top 9 women have done both races followed in the 10th position by last year's runner-up Joann Mathews. HFC's perky Meaghan Shaw is solid in third with teammate Eileen Cakouros on the rebound in fourth.

The women's summary is a bit sanitized compared to the men's - no dancing on the bar et al - but Senior leader Sue Maslowski did make it back to the site of the Pub Series Finale - Paddy's Pub in Newton - for an "early dinner" and we are thus predicting big things for Sue.

Save your livers, and those of your husbands or boyfriends, the much ballyhooed Irish Village weekend awaits!
