IN SEARCH OF THE TREK USA 2008 TEAM . DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES??

For Immediate Release: February 8, 2008

Contact: Billy Sheehan billythecoach@verizon.net, 978-689-0957

February 8, 2008 - The TREK USA 2008 Charity Relay for Kids (TREK USA) is a multi-day running adventure through the six New England states from Friday, May 9 to Sunday, May 18th, starting and ending in Boston, MA.

We are currently looking for qualified and energetic individuals who think they have what it takes to be a part of this year's team by participating in one of the four TREK categories: bronze (3 days); silver (5 days); gold (7 days); and platinum (10 days). Ten runners will be chosen for each category and each individual will run 15 miles a day in order to accomplish the 1,304 mileage goal of TREK 2008.

Each year, the location and distance of TREK USA changes in an effort to show different communities the importance of instilling healthy lifestyles in our children. TREK 2004 started in San Francisco, California and ended in Boston, Massachusetts. The TREK 2007 team ran down the East Coast from Hopkinton, Massachusetts to West Palm Beach, Florida.

"There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about some portion of my TREK experience," said Paul McGovern, TREK 2004 team member. "I learned a great deal from my experience and despite some challenging runs I was able to enjoy some good laughs along the way with my TREK teammates and there is no better way to see the country than on foot."

TREK is the primary fundraising event of the DMSE Children's Fitness Foundation, which was founded in 2003 by BAA Boston Marathon Race Director Dave McGillivray to support non-profit programs that use running as a primary means of promoting physical fitness in children. In addition to an official TREK team, young people from all over the country are encouraged to participate in TREK by pledging to run a certain number of miles during the duration of the event.

"My goal for TREK is to build an event that invites every child to experience the thrill and excitement that comes from the pursuit of physical fitness. In the process, we can help them learn the power of teamwork, determination, commitment and character, enhance their self-esteem and the recognition of their own self-worth," McGillivray said. If you think you're up for the challenge and an experience of a lifetime, please visit www.trekusa.org for details on becoming a member of the TREK USA 2008 team. # # #
