MAINE MARATHON GROWING.

"Early registrations for the 12th annual Sportshoe Center Maine Marathon/Relay/Half Marathon are up a staggering 25% over last years popular Fall running event" according to Howard Spear, Race Director. "Last year's event hosted 2000 runners and at this rate, 2500 participants can be expected at this fast growing event, which has raised in excess of $440,000 over the past two years for local charities and cancer research. Runners from all over the country, Canada and England, are signing up. Kudos go to the city of Portland and the towns of Falmouth, Cumberland and Yarmouth for their help in coordinating this spectacular competition. We are also happy to announce that WBLM will join us this year as media sponsor, according to Spear. Spear also noted that " all proceeds from this years race will benefit the Jason Program in support for terminally ill children in Maine. Last year, we donated $16,000 to this worthy cause."
