Thanks to the generosity of the good people at David Lerner Associates, each year the Greater Long Island Running Club has been able to set aside the entire proceeds of the David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation 5 Kilometer Run for a special fund to benefit Long Island law enforcement officers and their families in times of personal financial crisis.
On July 23, the Club made a donation of $25,000 from the fund to assist Nassau County Poice Officer Kenneth Baribault. Officer Baribault was critically injured on May 18th when he was struck by a DWI while pulling over another DWI on the Long Island Expressway.
The road to his recovery will be long, arduous….and expensive – and both the Club and
David Lerner Associates were pleased to have the money available to help the Baribault family in their time of need.
The check was presented to the Kenneth and Christopher Baribault Benevolent Fund on July 23. (Christopher is Officer Baribault’s young son). The presentation was made at Nassau County Police Headquarters by Race Director Ira Eskow and David Lerner Associates CEO
David Lerner. At the same time, Ira also presented David Lerner with a laminated
letter from Governor Patterson expressing his thanks to the Club and David for their support of the Police Appreciation Run.
Further donations are welcome from everyone. They can be sent to Kenneth and Christopher Baribault Benevolent Fund, 89 East Jericho Turnpike, Jericho, New York 11501.
