BOSTON (Dec. 15) ÛÓ Ethiopia’s double Olympic Champion Tirunesh Dibaba will be among the headliners at the 2010 Reebok Boston Indoor Games
on Feb. 6, organizers announced today. Tickets for the 15th annual
Olympic-styled event are on sale now at www.BostonIndoorGames.com <http://www.BostonIndoorGames.com> or by calling 1-877-TIX-TRAC.
Dibaba,
nicknamed the “baby face destroyer” for her devastating finishing kick,
is one of the sport’s most accomplished stars. In addition to her
three Olympic medals (Beijing 10,000m ÛÓ Gold, Beijing 5000m ÛÓ Gold,
Athens 5000m ÛÓ Bronze), Dibaba owns eight World Championship titles in
track and cross country from 2003 through 2008. She did not compete at
the Berlin World Championships due to a foot injury.
Back
to full health, Dibaba showcased her recent fitness with a World Record
performance in her 15-kilometer road race debut last month in the
Netherlands. This was Dibaba’s fourth World Record. Her first three
world records have been at 5000m: the first two were set at the Reebok
Boston Indoor Games (2005, 2007) and the third, which still stands, was
set outdoors in Oslo in 2008.
Since the Reebok Boston Indoor Games
began in 1996, more than 100 Olympic and World Championship medalists
have competed in the event, which has also played host to six World
Records and nine American Records. Sponsored by Reebok International Ltd.,
with its world headquarters in Canton, Mass., the event is owned and
produced by Global Athletics & Marketing, Inc., an
athlete-representation and events firm based in Boston.
The 15th-annual Reebok Boston Indoor Games,
