The Syracuse men defended their Big East title while Villanova’s women won for a 13th time on Sat., Oct. 30 in Jamesville, NY.
Providence junior Lee Carey won his first Big East XC title with a 24:56 showing over the 8K course. PC would place 3rd among men as Syracuse packed its top 5 in the overall top 25, led by junior Pat Dupont (4th in 25:15).
Former ME state champion Ayalew Taye placed 5th for Georgetown, two seconds behind Dupont.
Villanova dominated the women’s action, placing five in the top 11, including the 1-2 punch of Sheila Reid (20:31 for 6K) and Amanda Marino (20:35). Providence’s Shelby Greany was 4th in 20:50 as the Friars placed 4th among women’s teams.
Former Bromfield HS (MA) harrier Emily Jones ran 20:56 to place 6th for second place Georgetown.
