A look at the seeded field – By Vince Juliano

1}
Ed Whitlock ‰ÛÓ A world record 3:15 marathon at age 80 one month ago at
the Toronto Waterfront, a world record 2:54 marathon at age 73, and
still the only 70 plus runner to run a sub 3 hour marathon. Whitlock, a
6-time Stockade Age-graded champion will be attempting a worlds best 15K
, currently 1:13:28. The Canadian Marathon Legend will also attend the
Stockade Expo on Saturday afternoon.

2} Kevin Collins ‰ÛÓ
A 4-time Stockade-athon Champion, a two-time 2:15 marathoner will be
returning to his favorite race in the masters division for the first
time. Collins tuned up for this attempt with a 1:10 half marathon in
central New York.

3} Scott Mindel, 6th in this race in
2009 behind F.Cabada and 3rd last year with a personal best 48:12, this
2:24 marathoner (debut) will attempt to join his father Mark Mindel as a
Stockade-athon Champion. Mark last won the Stockade-athon in 1979. Now
that would be a story!

4} Aaron Robertson ‰ÛÓ A regular
top 5 finisher at the Stockade-athon, Aaron ran a 2:30 marathon at
Vermont City this year; a strong contender.

5} Mark
Andrews ‰ÛÓ 5K and Half Marathon USATF Masters Champion, Mark ran a 48:18
at the Boilermaker 15K this year. Will face off with Collins for the
first time and can contend for Open Division honors.

Kiernan O’Connor ‰ÛÓ won the Lake Placid Half in 1:11 earlier this year,
and posted a 15:44 5K in New York City recently, but favors distance
events.

7} Justin Wood ‰ÛÓ Running of the Green 4 mile
champ, and runner up in the Dunkin 5K (15:10) will test his endurance in
his debut 15K.

8} Chuck Terry ‰ÛÓ 5th overall in 2008 and
2009 (48:34), Chuck is coming off a MHR marathon victory 5 weeks ago in
2:32; may better this rating.

13} Ashley Gorr ‰ÛÓ
Qualified for the Olympic Marathon Trials with a superb runner up
performance at the ING Hartford Marathon in 2:45:30, 4 weeks ago. Prior
to that won the Schroon Lake Half Marathon in 82 minutes and the Race
for the Cure 5K in 17:22; the leading female contender.

Sara Facteau ‰ÛÓ MHR marathon champ posted up 2:53:58 on a warm day; Sara
cuts back attempting her first Stockade-athon with an extra week to
recover (5 weeks).

15} Jodi Robertson (Schoppman)
finished 3rd last year in 55 flat, Earlier this spring Jodi won the 50K
National Championship, and also qualified for the Olympic Marathon
Trails in her home town marathon on Long Island.

Brittany Burns ‰ÛÓ Marist College Graduate ran a 17:20 5K at the Penn
Relays, and finished 4th at the Festival of Races 5K this October in
17:43. Brittany is attempting her first 15K at age 22.

17}
Kristina Gracey- Albany Medical Student won back to back 5K’s earlier
this year at Kinderhook and Silks in Satins in 17:33 & 17:34 and
then ran a 2:56 at the MHR Marathon. Kristina is running her first
competitive Stockade-athon.

20} Emily Bryans- yes she is
44 and not a threat for the overall title, but a former 2-time
Stockade-athon Champion and 4-time runner-up (most in race history by a
female) has a stellar resume. A top contender for the women’s masters
title.

22} Norm Larson 55 ‰ÛÓ ranked 6th overall masters
athlete in 2008 at age 52, recently posted a 57:35 at the Old Fashion 10
miler in Foxboro Ma. Norm will make his Stockade-athon debut.

23}
Bill Dixon 64, a former Stockade-athon Age-graded Champion in 2000 at
age 53, more recently finished second in the Men’s Age-graded results at
the Festival of Races National Masters 5K, and tuned up for the
Stockade-athon with a world class 37:16 10K last week.

24} Tim Haley 62,

25] Gordon Macfarland 63, ‰ÛÓ two nationally ranked 60+ distance runners will
join Dixon to make this stellar age-group competition certainly worth
watching!

27} Bill Borla 71, A former Stockade-athon
Age-graded Champion (2008) at age 68; set the single year world record
for 15K at age 65 with a 58:03. The runner most happy to see Ed Whitlock
move up to a new age division!
