New Race for the 2012 New England Mountain Running Series
The
first and newest race in the 2012 USATF-NE Mountain Race Series will be
held this Sunday, May 13th in Huntington, Vermont on the training
grounds of the reigning World Mountain Running Champion and course
designer, Kasie Enman. The Sleepy Hollow Mountain Race joined the
series after Dave Dunham announced that his 10th year of directing the
Northfield Mountain Race would be his last. Although no one can quite
replace Northfield or Dave’s style, race directors, Enman and Liz
Hollenbach, hope to carry forward the
traditional mountain goat spirit into this new no frills race.

The
mostly wooded course on the grounds of Sleepy Hollow Nordic Ski Center
consists of 3 original up & down loops, totaling 10K in distance and
467 meters of elevation gain/loss by the end of the day. Runners will
follow mostly wide mowed trails with some sections of single track mixed
in. While challenging, there are lots of chances to recover and enjoy
your surroundings along the way. We’re excited to kick off the mountain
running season by sharing some of our favorite trails! Online
pre-registration is open until Friday, May 11th OR when maximum capacity
of 250 racers is reached ($15 by 5/11/12 11:59 pm | $25 day of race).
