Twin Cities In Motion Dedicates Medtronic TC 1 Mile to Boston Marathon | |

ST. PAUL, Minn. ÛÓ (April 24, 2013) ÛÓ Twin Cities In Motion, the organizer of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, is dedicating the upcoming Medtronic TC 1 Mile on Thursday evening May 9 to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. The organization will donate 10% of each runner’s entry fee to the victims of the attacks and match those contributions in an effort to raise $10,000 total. Participants in the event, which runs down Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, are asked to wear yellow and blue apparel at the race, the signature colors of the Boston Marathon, as a way of showing support. Brenda Martinez, fresh off her 1500m win at the Mt. SAC Relays in a World Championships ‘A’ Standard qualifying time of 4:04.86, joins the Daily Relay for their 5 Questions segment. BM: Before the race, Coach (Joe) Vigil had pulled me aside and told me that my strength was the one thing to rely on and not so much my kick. Since we found out there would be no rabbit, I had no other choice but to get after it. He said with a solo effort, I can go under the A-Standard. I trust every word Coach tells me. Morgan Uceny Launches 2013 Track Season | |

Morgan Uceny was the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials 1500 meter champion and the #1-ranked runner in the world for that distance in 2011. She’ll run a 1500 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines on Saturday against Olympians Shannon Rowbury and Jenny Simpson and high school phenom Mary Cain. A Cornell graduate, Uceny, 28, spends much of the year now in Loughborough, England, where her coach, Terrence Mahon, has a job with UK Athletics. But for a few weeks, she’s been in California. On Saturday night, in her first race since she was knocked down and did not finish the London Olympic 1500 final, Uceny was ninth in 2:05.50 in an 800 at the Mt. SAC Relays.
