Bring Back the Mile (BBTM), launched in January 2012, is a national campaign to elevate and celebrate the iconic distance. Jon Rankin serves as BBTM’s California Captain for the state petition drive to replace the 1600m with the Mile at the High School State Meet. He will be providing occasional posts on his journey as the California Captain. His first entry is titled “The Dream and the Return of the Mile: A Worthy Quest”ÛÓI still canÛªt believe itÛªs been more than 15 years since I officially became not just a runner, but a Miler. The College Avenue Mile is put on by the Garden State Track Club (GSTC) and took place on Saturday night, June 8, in New Brunswick, NJ. In its second year, this great community centric event hosted for the first time the Royal Rumble One-Mile and Two-Mile Relays along with a family friendly heptathlon, which includes a dunk tank, tug-o-war as well as a beer and BBQ garden among other activities. BBTM sat down with Club President, Chuck Schneekloth, who spends his days as an English teacher and Track coach from Metuchen, to discuss this unique Mile in New Jersey and what motivates the GSTC. Daniel Clark runs sub-4 minute Mile at Festival of Miles | |

JACKSON, MI ÛÒ Daniel Clark has run track for Notre Dame University and competed in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. Now the Jackson Lumen Christi High School graduate can etch his name next to Roger Bannister‘s in the hallows of running history. On Thursday, May 30 during the Big River Festival of Miles at St. Louis University High School in St. Louis, Mo., Clark officially cracked the 4-minute barrier in the Mile. Clark finished in second place by just two-tenths of a second in the elite class of the Mile run, and took a quick glance at his time. He was astonished with what he saw.
