Inaugural Bring Back the Mile Tour 2013 Reaches Mid-Point

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. ‰ÛÒ (June 11, 2013) ‰ÛÒ The inaugural Bring Back the Mile Tour 2013,
which features 14 events nationwide and one end-of-the-year gala, has
reached the halfway point with plenty of highlights and Mile action.
Bring Back the Mile (BBTM), launched in January 2012, is a national
campaign to elevate and celebrate the iconic distance. ‰ÛÏTo-date, the
Bring Back the Mile Tour has generated some thrilling racing and also
produced numerous Mile records in several categories,‰Û said BBTM Founder
Ryan Lamppa.
‰ÛÏWithout a doubt, the Tour events have engaged and entertained runners
of all ages and abilities, the media, fans and the general public, and

Run a Mile with Rankin: The Dream and the Return of the Mile

Jon Rankin serves as BBTM’s California Captain
for the state petition drive to replace the 1600m with the Mile at the
High School State Meet. He will be providing occasional posts on his

became not just a runner, but a Miler. And, thanks in large part to the
guys at Bring Back the Mile, their gentle nudge to have me look back on
my days as a high school Miler has helped to me realize how amazing my
journey as a Miler has been. As a much wiser Miler than I was when I was
just 15-years-old, I want to share my story and experiences with the

Making the Most of Your Mile: College Avenue Mile

The College Avenue Mile is put on by the Garden State Track Club
(GSTC) and took place on Saturday night, June 8, in New Brunswick, NJ.
In its second year, this great community centric event hosted for the
first time the Royal Rumble One-Mile and Two-Mile Relays along with a
family friendly heptathlon, which includes a dunk tank, tug-o-war as
well as a beer and BBQ garden among other activities. BBTM sat down with
Club President, Chuck Schneekloth,
who spends his days as an English teacher and Track coach from
Metuchen, to discuss this unique Mile in New Jersey and what motivates

Daniel Clark runs sub-4 minute Mile at Festival of Miles

JACKSON, MI ‰ÛÒ Daniel Clark
has run track for Notre Dame University and competed in the 2012 U.S.
Olympic Trials. Now the Jackson Lumen Christi High School graduate can
etch his name next to Roger Bannister‘s in the hallows of running history. On Thursday, May 30 during the Big River Festival of Miles
at St. Louis University High School in St. Louis, Mo., Clark officially
cracked the 4-minute barrier in the Mile. Clark finished in second
place by just two-tenths of a second in the elite class of the Mile run,
and took a quick glance at his time. He was astonished with what he
