What looks like incidental contact between Grunewald and Hasay seems to be (in the head referee’s opinion) just that. Nike protests and the head referee dismisses. Alberto Salazar protests to USATF Jury of Appeals. Jury of Appeals upholds head referee’s assertion that there was no foul. More Nike involvement. Voila, USATF finds “new evidence” (that it won’t release) and DQ’s Grunewald, paving way for Hasay’s inclusion at Worlds.
