New Britain, CT runner Jonas Hampton Wins 2015 Eversource Hartford Marathon

With an enthusiastic hometown crowd cheering him to the finish, Jonas
Hampton of New Britain won the 2015 Eversource Hartford Marathon with a
time of 2:15:58. Hampton ran for the University of Hartford; today’s
race was his first marathon and the Hartford Marathon Foundation‘s 22nd running
of the event. Approximately 14,000 runners participated in the event,
which included the marathon, half marathon, 5K, team relay and kids
race events.
Following
his 2014 marathon win in Hartford, Matt Pelletier, of Oneca, CT, came
in second with a time of 2:17:58. Tyler Andrews, of Concord, MA, came
in third place with a time of 2:19:37. With a third straight win in the
women’s marathon race, Erica Jesseman of Scarborough, ME, came in at
2:41:41. Alexandra Niles, of Montclair, NJ, came in second with a time
of 2:45:45. Travelling from Flagstaff, AZ, Jen Puzey came in third
with a time of 2:47:55. Jesseman and Pelletier were both awarded bonus
money for their participation in the New England’s Finest Elite program.

2:50:01 Kasie Enman, 36, Huntington, VT
With
a time of 1:05:32, Harbert Okuti, of New Paltz, NY, won his second
straight Eversource Hartford Half Marathon. Dan Vassallo, of Peabody,
MA, came in second place in the 13.1 mile race with a time of 1:07:13.
With a time of 1:07:25, Eric MacKnight, of Ballston Lake, NY, came in
third place.
In
her first race in Hartford, Sarah Hutchings, of Boulder, CO, won the
women’s field of the half marathon with a time of 1:17:09. Marie
Davenport, of Guilford, CT, came in second place with a time of
1:18:09. Coming in third place with a time of 1:19:08 was Marisa
Cummings, of New York, NY.
Another
Connecticut runner took first place in a fast 5K race. Brian Biekert,
of North Stonington, won with a time of 15:01. Coming in second place
with a time of 15:13 was David Chorney of Boston. With a time of
15:20, Chris Fitzsimons, of Hamden, CT, took third place.
In
the women’s 5K race, Maggie Callahan, of Boulder, CO, won with a time
of 17:26. Brittany Burns, of Watertown, NY, came in second place with
a time of 17:56. Bristol, CT, runner Brittany Heninger came in third
place in 18:08.
