Game On! was the proclamation of the Bedford Rotary Trails to Ales organization, and so, on Thursday evening, Aug. 20, the 3rd annual event proceeded in-person with 5 waves every 10 minutes from 5:20 pm to 6:00 pm.

There was a max of 140 total setting off from Legacy Park for a 5K or 2K trail jaunt. Kara Haas, who ran at nearby St. Anselm College, took off in the 1st wave and won the women’s 5K in 21:58 for a 3rd year in a row. She then gathered hubby Mike and the couple’s two daughters for the 5th wave and a 2K journey.
Only Mort the Sport with and the Rotary seem to have pulled off in-person events in New England. Trails to Ales was great fun and a chance to reconnect after five months of solitary living. Kudos to the food and beverage vendors, especially craft brewers Long Blue Cat Brewing and Backyard Brewing which produces a stellar Italian pilsner.
