Taproom Tidbits after Pub Stop No. 2 – The BHZ 5K

A quick run around the taproom as the next malt & hops extravaganza is right around the corner with the Cambridge Fall Classic 5K on Sept. 18.

Congrats to everyone on being part of the record breaking crowd (520 entrants) on a day that was 72˚ instead of 92˚, with humidity but not of the tropical sort.

Fast crowd with cash on the line but Evan’s Run victor Patrick Bugbee of CSU ran a strong race to go from 7th at halfway to 4th at the finish and now sits atop the Pub leaderboard by 12 pts.

Very interesting right below as Senior Titans Greg Picklesimer of SRR and Doug Johnson of CSU are 1-point apart in the Open division and tied atop the Senior division.

Doug will be heading back to familiar turf in Kendall Square after being pictured in the current issue of NER setting the M50 record at the Cambridge Summer Classic.

BHZ 5K M60 record setter (19:36 – 6:19 pace) Pete Danzell sits atop the M60 division with Whirlaway Wildman Paul Hammond and Thirsty Irish Runner Dave Wessman tied for 2nd.

Greater Lowell’s Glenn Stewart (M70 records at Evan’s Run and BHZ) is the Septuagenarian Strongman as Dave Pember (hey, I’m 79) is getting no respect from the young punks in the M70 class.

Flashback some moons ago and Ironman Bill Riley and Maine’s Phil Pierce were 1-2 in the M70-79 division. Time moves on as that’s the current M80+ standing.

Once a champ, always a champ as past Pub Queen Christina Campbell (of tony Hingham) sits atop the women’s standings after two runner-up showings (and a BHZ W40 record) followed by HFC teammates Nicole Nelson and Erin Brown (W40) tied for second.

CSU’s Sue McNatt is top W50 but HFC’s Lee Peterson just turned the Big 5-O, which promises some drama down the road.

Pub Vets Claire McManus of Greater Boston (via County Galway) and RI Rhode Master Marge Bellisle are but 2-pts. apart at W60.

W70 is anyone’s game.

PUBLICANS TAKE NOTE: If you haven’t signed up for the Fall Classic do so by Sept. 11 and join the New England Runner team – We have 9 members so far and need 20 to secure our VIP tent in the Beer Garden. REGISTER HERE
