After temporarily relocating to Staten Island due to COVID-19, the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will make its debut at its new home, the TRACK at new balance, a new, state-of-the-art indoor track and field facility at New Balance’s world headquarters in Brighton, Mass.
Tickets for the event on Feb. 4, which forms part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, are now on sale at www.nbindoorgrandprix.com or by calling 1-877-849-8722.
One of the most impressive athletes competing today, McLaughlin-Levrone has utterly dominated the women’s 400m hurdles, having won every one of her races in her specialty discipline for the last two years, including the 2020 Olympic and 2022 World Athletics Championships titles. She also won golds as a member of Team USA’s 4x400m relay at the 2020 Olympic Games and the 2019 and 2022 World Athletics Championships, owns six of the seven fastest times ever run in the 400m hurdles and was named World Athletics Athlete of the Year for 2022.
Facing McLaughlin-Levrone in the women’s 60m will be Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, one of the best sprinters on the planet today. Last year, Jackson won gold in the 200m at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene in a time of 21.45, the second-fastest time ever recorded. She also took silvers in Eugene in both the 100m and 4x100m relay and has bronze medals from the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games in the 400m and 100m, respectively. This will be Jackson’s first time competing at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.
Joining McLaughlin-Levrone and Jackson in the women’s 60m will be Mikiah Brisco, the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships silver medalist at 60m, and Aleia Hobbs, the 2022 USATF Championships runner-up and sixth place finisher over 100m at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene.
The 2023 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will be shown live on NBC from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 4 and is a founding member of the World Athletics Indoor Tour. The series of the best indoor athletics events around the world awards overall tour winners $10,000 and a guaranteed spot at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
Now in its 28th year, the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix has played host to nine world records and 16 American records.
