Wonderful day at the Barrel House Z Brewery with a crazy new course record of 14:57 by defending champion Gilmar Lopes.
CSU – HFC – Brighton Bangers – BHZ Run Club and the Dirty Water (Distillery) Run Club took the inaugural Co-ed Team trophies in that order.
With four races in the bag, the herd is thinning, which will make for a more intimate affair upstairs at Paddy’s Public House sometime late Nov/early Dec, for Pub Series Awards Night.
No seismic shift in standings other than Ken Warren showing Whirlaway teammate (and past 3x Pub Champ) Paul Hammond no mercy as he vaulted into the top M60 position.
Also, in the overall women’s division, Hayley Sutter closed the gap on leader Elizabeth Bugbee of CSU, picking up 3-points on Elizabeth at the Bridge of Flowers 8K. Hayley gave one point back as she and Elizabeth dueled throughout BHZ with Elizabeth prevailing by 2-seconds to take a 5-point lead.
Hanson’s Gary Morin has turned the Big 7-0 and in three out of 4 races in his new age division has a slight lead over the ageless Kevin Sweeney. Wife Rose Mailloux is currently 4th W60 while daughter Racquel is 7th in the Open divison.
High octane octogenarian Rich Paulson pulled ahead of an absent Dave Pember at Bridge of Flowers but Dave got it back at BHZ to currently lead Rich by a single point.
HFC’s Eileen Cakouros is solid at W50 but the surprising Shannon Bowen-Kievman of Manchester, CT, is right behind her in the Open and W50 categories.
Ocean State great Marge Bellisle, all-world Jan Holmquist and Pub Series matinee idol Greg Picklesimer rule their divisions and how doe Larry Cole do it? The man has a perfect score in the Cole-Ossal division (which Larry calls the Cole-Ossified division.)
The next malt & hops event should be a real hoot with the HFC Striders bringing back the uber popular Liam Maguire’s almost 5-Miler in Falmouth, MA this September 15.
