The 1st race in both the Tour De Patrick 3-race Series and NER Pub Series 6-race Series took place on Saturday, March 7 with the staging of the Jameson Irish 5K put on by Run Rhody.

The skies were darkened but vacant of precipitation with a temperature hovering around 40-degrees. Not bad racing weather and certainly a major step up from bomb cyclones, snow thunder and 50 mph winds not uncommon this past winter.
Former Coventry HS runner and current URI undergraduate LJ St. Germain ran strong to the finish in 16:50 with the 19 year-old pursued by hoary 42 year-old Patrick Bugbee of CSU, the two-time defending Pub Series Champion beset by leg maladies in 2025 but looking crisp in this outing as Patrick placed as runner-up 16 seconds in arrears of our young champ.
Past Pub Series women’s champion Mimi Fallon (L) and defending champion Elizabeth Bugbee of CSU were just 12 seconds apart at the finish.
Among women (we know of) leading the inaugural joust are last year’s 1-2 placers Elizabeth Bugbee of CSU and Mimi Fallon of Liberty, separated by just 12 seconds.
A healthy Doug Logan manhandled the Senior Set.
Kudos to the staff and owner of the Azul Tequila Bar, the official post-race watering hole and less than a half-mile from the race site. If the Guinness seemed surprisingly good here it’s because it’s the same ownership as the previous establishment known as Murphy’s Law.
Not sure what photog Scott Mason finds so interesting about Pubster Leonard Busa’s footwear but from this photo we may never know.
For the adventurous, Jameson was on hand passing out swag and shots.
Next up in the Series is Connolly’s Kick in for Kids 5K in Woburn, MA on May 3.
