Sir Roger Bannister, famous as the first human to run a mile in under 4 minutes on May 6, 1954, passed away on March 3, 2018.

Rev. Dr. George Dole, Fryeburg, Maine native and namesake of the Dole 3 Miler, ran in that historic race. George was interviewed after Bannister’s passing by the Portland Press Herald. Enjoy the resulting article here.
