So just a tad (!) late getting around to this because of 1) indolence on my part; 2) In Feb. a host facility for a traditional late summer Pub Series Race went Chapter 7; and 3) indolence on my part. Hence, we’re two races down already and not everyone got the word, but for those who did a charming Boutique Pub Series is in session.
The next 3 races are at Breweries – Riverwalk in Newburyport; Notch in Salem and Vitamin Sea in Weymouth, with the Grand Finale at Irish Pub extraordinaire Paddy’s Public House in Newton for the event’s 25th anniversary.
Following the Schedule with links, standings, etc. (below) are the Rules of Scoring, Jacket, Prize $, Awards Night info, etc., with one caveat we will mention right here, right now: Unlike previous years when 5 completed races got you a pair of Puma shoes and 6 completed races got you a Pub Series jacket, we’re reversing that so 5 completed races gets you a Pub Series Jacket and 6 completed races gets you a pair of Puma shoes. The reasoning here is that Pubsters would often miss a race just to get the shoes.

To be scored in the Series and eligible for season ending cash, swag and camaraderie, to paraphrase Thunderdome: Miss one, have your fun. Miss Two, you’re through! Also, after a raucous and unanimous vote by participants, you have to be an NER subscriber by the 3rd race to remain in the Series.
You can and should sign up for our free bi-weekly newsletter, NER Express, crucial to staying up to date with Pub Series news, available at the top of our website (www.nerunner.com). Scoring, standings and a participant list will be posted to our website following each race.
End of Series Swag at Awards Night: $125 – $100 – $75 for overall top-3, and $50 for age-group winners plus merchandise for 2-3 finishers from Masters thru 90+. Pub Jackets and Shoes to those qualified, plus food, mirth and merriment.
How the Series is Scored
The top overall 50 places for men and women are based on cross country scoring. Win the race, you get 50 points, come in 50th, you get one point. Everyone of any age is eligible to score here.
For men, age group scoring goes 10 deep for Masters, Seniors, Veterans, 70-79 and 8-deep for 80+ Ozone Warriors. Same for women, only difference being 8-deep for 70-79 and for 80+.
Example: If you’re the top 40-49 runner in a race, you get 10 points in your age division. If you’re 10th Master, you get one point. *If an age-grouper scores among the top-3 Overall at Series end, they get bumped out of the division and everyone else moves up.
Jacket Info: Your lifeline to the Pub Series is our website (www.nerunner.com) and free bi-weekly -newsletter as well as the mag. Take advantage of all (especially the e-newsletter) because that’s where the notice asking for your jacket size will appear after the fifth race in the Series.
If you can’t attend Awards Night, and you can’t arrange for a friend who is attending to pick up your jacket, we’ll have to work something out to avoid the astronomical fees we already pay to the US Postal Service. There are some exceptions, like if you live in VT, ME or Warren, RI.
